Hey you "professional" bloggers (yeah, I'm talking to you Jessica and Joy), is there a way to change a setting so all the users get an email when the blog is updated? I think a lot of people just forget about the blog and would go to it more if they would get a "reminder" in the form of an email. I know I haven't checked it in a while so there are several posts I missed, but if I had been notified of an update, I would have checked it out. let me know if you know of anything like that. Thanks! Celise

recent pictures and update for LaVon Salmon Family
We wish more people would use this blog! we think it is such a great idea to stay in touch with everyone, more so now that we are so far away! It would be nice to be in the know :) I thought that I would post an update for our family...
Cyle is doing well. He has started to walk and is very good at it. He loves being around other kids and learning new things and always has more energy than w do.
LaVon is also doing well. He switched offices within 3 weeks of being here at Scott AFB. He will start at the new job this coming Monday. He is both anxious and excited! We have heard that this is very common within the Air Force...
Joy is good. She became a key spouse for LaVon's squadron and thoroughly enjoys the interaction she gets with many key authority figures and spouses in the squadron. She has found that there are many young stay at home moms here that are really nice and has become good friends with quite a few of them.
Our ward is great and continues to get better. we gave talks in sacrament on our 3rd week of being there. We haven't received callings yet but are sure they will come soon.
Our dogs, that's right we have two dogs now, are doing well. Molly (our lab/retriever mix) is so smart and is very good most of the time. Honey (our Pomeranian/chihuahua mix) is a little more rebellious and has a brain the size of a pea but is great for a playmate for Molly and is a great lap dog/ snuggler.
we love it here in Illinois! The weather is beautiful and the scenery is so much more green then Vegas! Thank goodness! It does rain quite a bit, but the green everywhere makes it so worth it!

baby update
just wanted to let everyone know that Jessica has been put on bed rest. The baby tried to come into the world on Sunday evening, but thankfully the wonderful nurses were able to get things stopped.

LaVon, Joy, and our little one: Cyle
Joy and Cyle are doing well. we are keeping busy by traveling a lot and visiting those we love. our summer trips have been up to Logan, Utah to visit the Eggett family (joy's sister), over to San Antonio, Texas to support LaVon in graduating from Basic Training for the Air Force, over to Riverview, Florida to visit with LaVon's side of the family, up to Orderville, Utah area to help joy's mom and dad move up there, and also to Overton, Nevada for a baby blessing. It has been lovely to see and visit many loved ones. while we are at home we love playing in the pool and playing inside out of the extreme heat. Cyle is growing so much and is becoming quite independent. He has learned how to crawl and climb and is now able to entertain himself with toys. Joy is having to adjust to the feeling of freedom and not being needed every second of every day... it is quite the awkward feeling, I must say.
LaVon is now stationed at Keesler AFB for his technical training for his job. He will graduate on September 28th and is looking at being the top graduate of his class. This is a huge accomplishment for him and we are so proud of him and all of his hard work. he also holds the extra responsibilities of being an Airman Leader which takes extra self discipline and motivation. Overall his experience there in Keesler has caused much growth and learning and LaVon is thoroughly enjoying it!
we recently were told that our first place of assignment will be Scott AFB in Belleville, Illinois! we are excited and look forward to our adventure that will begin there.
Much love and best wishes to all of you!
LaVon, Joy, and Cyle

Hear Ye, Hear Ye; New Family Rule
New Rule: When taking Grandma out, check to make sure she has cancelled the bus!!!
Yesterday she and I went to the temple, had lunch, and went shopping - had a great time! Upon arriving at her apartment, we were greeted by Ron and Dana (Theresa's husband) as they were repairing her door. I was then told that when the bus driver came to take her to lunch and she didn't answer the door, he called the police. The police "rammed" the door just like you would see them do at a drug house on Cops. Apparently most of the family, her neighborhood, and her entire ward were put on the look out for the "missing" Sister Leavitt. So, please learn from my HUGE mistake and embarrassment and make sure she has cancelled the bus before you take her out for some fun.
By the way, Grandma is speaking in her sacrament meeting this Sunday (1:00 at the Racetack Rd building) on how the temple blesses her family. (She has many, many stories of how the temple has blessed her family. I certainly hope she does share this one!)

Playing on the farm in Monticello, UT
The kids and I went to my family's annual reunion for the 24th of July. I thought you might like to see some of the fun pictures we took.
It's always fun for us to play in the wheat fields, and in the wheat trucks. And of course I have to get pictures!

River Rafting in Moab, UT
41 members of my family went rafting down the Colorado River in Moab, UT. We had so much fun! Even the little kids loved it! There was only one time where we hit a bigger rapid and because our raft was under inflated it kind of folded the front up. One of my cousin's kids went flying in the air (which he loved and reinacted many times), and Jaclyn and Nathan were knocked over to the other side of the raft. It scared them a little, but they were fine. Other than that it was smooth sailing.

Question?
Hey everyone out there... I'm not sure how often people read this, but I was wondering if anyone had a food dehydrator I could borrow for the day. I got some peaches in Utah this weekend, and wanted to make some fruit leather.
Thanks

Vote for Brinley!
Brinley is 3 months
Josh and Rachael Leavitt are doing well. They are enjoying the summer before Josh starts Dental School and Rachael starts her Masters this Fall. Brinley is three months old now. She has recovered successfully from her Kidney removal surgery. Rachael and Josh are now working on fattening her up and teaching her to roll. Brinley was blessing in church on Joan's birthday and after Jeanie's' baptism. It was a busy fun filled weekend.
4th of July Celebration
I wanted to let all of you locals know that the City of North Las Vegas is putting in their annual Independence Day Jubilee at the park across the street from our house Thursday night (July 2nd). There is live entertainment, food vendors, and children's activities at the park and then a huge fireworks show when it gets dark. We are going to have a BBQ at our house at 5:00, then wander over around the park, then come back to our house to watch the fireworks show. You are more than welcome to come if you like whenever you like. If you come early enough to BBQ, just bring your own meat and a side or dessert to share. Also, we will actually be in my aunt's ajoining yard, so just come through the side gate of either my house or hers. We hope to see you there!

Sean is on his Mission!
Sean Hayes entered the MTC on Wed and is now preparing to serve in the Texas Houston Mission. Here are some pictures we took at the dinner we had after he took out his Endowments:
Stacy also brought a banner that said the same thing. She was going to put it on the front door of her house until we changed the dinner to a restaurant. Everyone there signed the banner and then Sean took it home and all his friends also signed it. What a fun memory for him to have!
Since Sean was little, Stacy has called him "Snoopy Sean". So she brought a really cute cake that said "Snoopy Sean is going on a mission!".
